Education Hero Award Dinner 2008 The Public Education Foundation will honor Jan L. Jones and Dr. Brian Cram at its 2008 Education Hero Award Dinner on Sept. 20 at the Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas. Jones, senior vice president, Communications and Government Affairs, Harrah's Entertainment, and former Las Vegas mayor, will receive the prestigious Education Hero Award from the Foundation. The Education Hero Award is an annual award given by the Foundation in recognition of individuals throughout the State of Nevada who make a significant contribution to public education. Previous recipients of the award include Bruce Woodbury, Thalia Dondero, Larry Ruvo, Siegfried and Roy, Tony Alamo, Senator Harry Reid, Chancellor Jim Rogers, Barbara Greenspun and the Greenspun family, Governor Kenny C. Guinn, William Vassiliadis and R&R Partners, and John L. Goolsby. The Foundation will also honor Dr. Brian Cram with its Lifetime Education Achievement Award in recognition of his lifetime commitment and service to teaching and learning. Previous Lifetime Education Achievement Award recipients include Dr. Lois Tarkanian, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, William E. Martin, Claudine Williams, and Ann Lynch. All proceeds from the event support the Foundation’s programs and initiatives designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning in Southern Nevada’s public schools. Seating is limited.
