The Public Education Foundation has selected Wells Fargo, The Greenspun Family Foundation, the MGM MIRAGE and Phillip, Maureen and Schafer Peckman as February’s Donors of the Month for their commitment to and support of the Clark County School District’s four Empowerment Schools.

Empowerment Schools are designed to improve learning and student performance through increased autonomy and accountability, smaller class size, a longer school day and year, and more financial support.  Their goal is to successfully educate the diverse students that they serve through a collaborative partnership including students, parents, community members and the school staff. 

Each school has a Design Team, comprised of administrators, teachers, support staff and parents, that determines the overall operation of the school.  Each school has also been connected with a community partner who provides resources, supplies, funding and expertise.

The Donors of the Month generously gave $50,000 to their partner school which is allowing the schools to adopt best practices in research, accountability, curriculum and instruction.  The partnerships are:
