Southern Nevada public school art teachers attended an exclusive shopping event in March at The Public Education Foundation’s Teacher EXCHANGE™.  They were treated to personal shoppers, refreshments and a vast array of new art resource materials donated by Steve and Elaine Wynn and Wynn Las Vegas.

The art teachers shopped by region and left the Teacher EXCHANGE™ with tote bags filled with art books, bookmarks, note cards, address books, posters, prints and even coffee cups.

“Wynn Las Vegas closed their art gallery gift shop recently and generously donated their remaining stock to the Teacher EXCHANGE™ for distribution to our public school art teachers,” said Judi Steele, president of The Foundation.  “We are very grateful to the Wynns for their care and concern for our community’s teachers and students.”

The Teacher EXCHANGE™ collects new and re-usable materials, supplies, computers and office equipment from community businesses and individuals and provides them free-of-charge to teachers to enhance classroom instruction.  All teachers in the Clark County School District may join the Teacher EXCHANGE™ by logging on to InterAct Online Learning Community, click on “Community Links” on the desktop, and click on the Teacher EXCHANGE™  logo.

Don’t throw away left over ceramic tiles or rolls of wallpaper used to remodel your home – teachers can use these items to create innovative instructional activities.  If your business or organization is moving or closing, donate the excess office supplies or paper no longer needed.  Teachers spend approximately $2,000 of their own money for classroom supplies each year and many provide supplies to students who cannot afford to bring supplies to school. Your donation will make a difference in our classrooms throughout Southern Nevada.

Items recently received include restaurant equipment and supplies for the Clark County School District’s culinary arts teachers, framed art, art supplies, new school supplies, Pentium 4 computers, paper and much, much more.  For a complete list, click here
