Anthony Veltri, a 4th grader at Vanderburg
Elementary School, and Jerry Tan and Joseph Cheung,
8th graders at Hyde Park Middle School were selected as the first
place winners of the “Walking with Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular”
essay contest.
Two first place winners were chosen, one
from grades 3-5 and one from grades 6-8, from the 225 entries
that were received. Jerry and Joseph submitted an essay together.
The topic of the essay contest was to compare and contrast the
challenges an endangered animal faces today compared to what
the dinosaurs faced before their extinction. The Foundation partnered
with the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership
Program on the contest.
